Greystone Hotels Demonstrates Commitment To Enviromental Conservancy With Annual "Day Of Service" Initiative & Nature Conservancy Donation

All 11 hotels in Greystone portfolio to donate portion of gross room revenues from Earth Day to the Nature Conservancy
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 19, 2018) - On April 22, San Francisco-based Greystone Hotels will once again honor its commitment to the environment by participating in the 48th annual celebration of Earth Day. All 11 of Greystone's California and Oregon-based properties will donate a portion of proceeds from Earth Day gross rooms revenue to the Nature Conservancy. In addition, all Greystone employees will participate in Greystone's annual "Day of Service" for local community partners focused on environmental conservancy. These partners include: Bend Parks and Recreation (Bend, Ore.), LA Mission for the Homeless (Los Angeles), St. Anthony's Church (Palo Alto), Creek to Bay Cleanup (San Diego), Camarena Elementary School (San Diego), San Diego Rescue Mission (San Diego), Save Our Shores Beach Cleanup (Los Gatos), East Shore State Park Cleanup (San Francisco), End Plastic Pollution (San Francisco), and Glide's "Feed the Hungry" Initiative (San Francisco).

"As an eco-friendly hotel management company, we're dedicated year-round to following green hospitality practices and encouraging our guests to do the same via in-room calls to action and various promotions at the property level," said Eric Horodas, President of Greystone Hotels. "While our team never stops striving for excellence in environmentally friendly practices, we've been proud to commemorate this commitment annually on Earth Day with a donation to the Nature Conservancy and with time spent actively supporting and bettering our local communities through volunteer efforts."

Greystone Hotels' green efforts extend far beyond Earth Day celebrations. In addition to donating annually to the Nature Conservancy, the company celebrates Earth Hour with a yearly donation to the National Arbor Day foundation, with this year's donation totaling $5,000. This year, on March 24, all Greystone properties also observed Earth Hour by turning off all façade, signage, and non-essential lighting, and dimmed all lighting public areas, restaurants, and other exterior spaces.

All 11 Greystone hotels are partners of the Clean the World organization, which recycles unused hospitality industry hygiene products to combat disease and illness both domestically and internationally. Greystone's hotels are continually recognized as TripAdvisor Green Leaders, and a number of properties are part of the California Green Lodging Program.

Earth Day Network's mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network is the world's largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 50,000 partners in nearly 200 countries to build environmental democracy. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
