Greystone Hotels Reveals King George Hotel Redesign

GREYSTONE HOTELS REVEALS KING GEORGE HOTEL REDESIGN Boutique hotel's transformation features British-inspired updates and the introduction of Mason Social Club
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 27, 2018) - San Francisco-based Greystone Hotels announces the recent renovation of the King George Hotel-a 153-room boutique hotel located on Mason Street in the heart of Union Square. The recently completed $5.5 million top to bottom remodel has created a new level of comfort and style to the lobby, guestrooms, corridors and bathrooms. The centerpiece of the King George Hotel is the newly introduced Mason Social Club, which unites the lobby, bar, hotel living room, technology center, and new games room into one cohesive, multifunctional space that is reminiscent of an English inn. Designed by Jacqueline McGee, an award-winning principal of architectural and design firm Perkins & Will, the 5,600-square-foot space combines English charm with 21st century technology and features distinct areas for relaxation, productivity, socializing, and entertainment.

"We designed Mason Social Club—the centerpiece of our renovation—to create a space with something for everyone," said Eric Horodas, President and CEO of Greystone Hotels. "Mason Social Club is intended to be an area for locals and travelers alike to collaborate, work, and play.

"On arrival, guests will check in at pods immediately inside the front entry or check in on their mobile device using KeyPR technology, which also activates the room key on the guest's mobile device," he said. The KeyPR technology is facilitated by complimentary WiFi access throughout the entire hotel, including Mason Social Club.

The focal point of Mason Social Club is an iconic red London telephone booth, which adds a touch of whimsy to the lobby. "I expect many of our guests will snap selfies in the London telephone booth and post them on Instagram along with photos of themselves enjoying the billiards table, dart boards, and table shuffle board games," Horodas went on to say. After a full day of sightseeing and shopping, guests can quench their thirst at the bar, where a wide range of beer and wines are served along with light snacks. For those simply looking to relax or socialize, Mason Social Club will also have ample living room type seating throughout. The red, white, and blue color scheme is highlighted throughout the space in art pieces and British flags, and a collection of British bowler hats has been retrofitted to create a light fixture at the community table. Authentic leathers, reclaimed oiled wood floors, and dark metals are incorporated into the furniture and architecture along with bronze light fixtures, custom rugs, soft pillows, and ample plush seating—all reinforcing the comfortable and welcoming atmosphere of the multifunctional space.

In addition to the extensive updates to the lobby and common spaces, the hotel also features recently-refreshed rooms and guest bathrooms.

Located just steps from Union Square, the King George Hotel is a charming and historic building in the heart of San Francisco with a modern new design and best-in-class service and amenities. For more information, please visit or
